Improving on 2001′s Model: The 2002 360 Revisited

When you think of the "Ferrari 360" what will usually come to mind for Ferrari enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The 360 has been one of the premier vehicles of the Ferrari line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 2002 model is no exception. The Ferrari 360 falls into the convertible for the family category.

Under the Hood

The restyled 360 Spider is equipped with a 3.6-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 40 valves. The engine is mated to a Ferrari 6-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ferrari.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The 360 has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

360 Spider Statistics

The 360 is 176.30 inches long, 75.70 inches wide, and 48.60 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 102.30 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $160,724 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-average price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

Fuel is handled for the 360 is a Bosch ME-7.3 design, running on gasoline fuel. The gasoline is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 25.10 gallons.

The 360 Spider received a miles-per-gallon rating of eleven in-city driving and sixteen when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was subpar.

In Summary

There are several reasons why the Ferrari 360 Spider sold well in 2002. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ferrari, specifically a 360.
