Our Review of the 2004 Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa

Maserati Spyder

The 2004 Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa was introduced to compete in the convertible market. The Cambiocorsa is a member of a series of two trim levels for the Spyder which include Cambiocorsa and GT. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Maserati. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.

Maserati Spyder Engine Specs

The restyled Spyder Cambiocorsa is equipped with a Maserati/Ferrari 4.2-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 32 valves. The engine is paired with a Ferrari 6-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Maserati.

The fuel system for the 2004 Spyder is a Bosch ME-7.3.2 design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 23.00 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Spyder has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The Spyder is 169.40 inches long, 71.70 inches wide, and 51.40 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 96.10 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $89,622 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

The standard warranty period for the Spyder is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the convertible market.

Fuel Efficiency
