A Better 2002′s Model: The 2003 Maserati Coupe GT
One of the staples of the Coupe segment is the Maserati Coupe. In the previous model year debuted a brand new version of the Coupe with two versions: GT and Cambiocorsa. Sales for the Coupe, especially the Coupe GT, were brisk during 2003 and 2004. The improved vehicle quality and the modern styling were responsible for the boost in sales.
Engine Performance
The restyled Coupe GT is equipped with a Maserati/Ferrari 4.2-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 32 valves. The engine is paired with a Getrag 6-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Maserati.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Coupe has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.
Coupe GT Statistics
The dimensions of the Coupe GT are 71.70 inches wide by 169.40 inches long. It sits a comfortable 51.40 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 96.10 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $89,622 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.
Fuel Efficiency
Fuel is handled for the Coupe is a Bosch Motronic design, running on gasoline fuel. The gasoline is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The 23.00-gallon tank provides the fuel storage for longer trips.
The Coupe GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of eleven in-city driving and seventeen when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was exceptional.
