Improving on 1998′s Model: The 1999 Diablo Revisited

There have been several award-winning cars from Lamborghini over the years, including the Lamborghini Diablo of 1999. There are two trim levels to the Diablo, including VT and SV. The VT version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 1998 the popular 5.7 liter has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers across the country.

Under the Hood

Standard equipment in the Diablo for 1998 and 1999 includes the 5.7 liter engine by Lamborghini, weighing in at 12 cylinders and fourty eight valves. A 5-speed Standard Transmission puts the power of the engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Coupe arena.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Diablo uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The Diablo is inches long, inches wide, and inches high. It has a wheelbase of inches. It is able to seat several adults comfortably.

The listed retail price in 1999 (MSRP) was an industry-average price, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-average price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1999 Diablo is a Lamborghini LIE design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 12 gallons.

The 1999 Diablo gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is subpar for a coupe car.

What We Think of the Lamborghini Diablo

There are several reasons why the Lamborghini Diablo VT sold well in 1999. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Lamborghini, specifically a Diablo.
