The Maserati GranSport Base for 2007

The 2007 GranSport is an important vehicle to Maserati for the coupe market segment. The Base is a member of a series of two trim levels for the GranSport which include Base and Spyder. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Maserati. There is strong competition from vehicles from Honda.

2007 Maserati GranSport Base Specs

The restyled GranSport Base is equipped with a 4.2-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a Ferrari six-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2006 version.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The GranSport comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2007 GranSport is a Bosch ME-7.3.2 system, running on gasoline . The fuel is regulated by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The dimensions of the GranSport Base are 74.60 inches wide by 198.90 inches long. It sits 56.60 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 120.60 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The standard warranty period for the GranSport is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $110,600 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

MPG Ratings

The GranSport Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of thirteen in-city driving and eighteen when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

In 2006 and 2007 the GranSport Base was availble in the exterior colors of Custom Exterior Color.

What We Think of the Maserati GranSport

There are several reasons why the Maserati GranSport Base sold well in 2007. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Maserati, specifically a GranSport.
