A Better 2005′s Model: The 2006 Ferrari F430 Spider

There have been several award-winning cars from Ferrari over the years, including the Ferrari F430 of 2006. There are two trim levels to the F430, including Base and Spider. The Spider version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2005 the popular 4.3 liter has made this a popular choice for convertible buyers nationwide.

Stop and Go

The restyled F430 Spider is equipped with a 4.3-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a Ferrari six-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2005 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The F430 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Statistics

The F430 is 177.60 inches long, 75.70 inches wide, and 47.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 102.40 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 2006 (MSRP) was $168,005, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price is in line with the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2006 F430 is a traditional Bosch ME-7, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.

The F430 Spider received a miles-per-gallon rating of eleven in-city driving and sixteen when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

Parting Shots

The 2006 model year was very successful for the Ferrari F430. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Spider version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
