The restyled 456 M GTA Base is equipped with a Ferrari 5.5-liter 12-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 48 valves. The engine is paired with a Ferrari 4-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ferrari.
The 2003 456 M GT is an important vehicle to Ferrari for the coupe market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the 456 M GT which include Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Ferrari. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.
One of the staples of the Coupe segment is the Maserati Coupe. In the previous model year debuted a brand new version of the Coupe with two versions: GT and Cambiocorsa. Sales for the Coupe, especially the Coupe GT, were brisk during 2003 and 2004. The improved vehicle quality and the modern styling were responsible for the boost in sales.
Standard equipment in the 360 for 2002 and 2003 includes the 3.6 liter engine by Ferrari, weighing in at 8 cylinders and fourty valves. A 6-speed Standard Transmission puts the power of the engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the 360.
