In 1997 Ferrari released the 456 GTA Base to the car-buying market. The 456 GTA came in one configurations: Base. The Base configuration is powered by the 5.5-liter twelve -cylinder engine, which makes 23 highway miles and 17 city. The 456 GTA competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Toyota.
The 1997 456 GTA is an important vehicle to Ferrari for the coupe market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the 456 GTA which include Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Ferrari. There is strong competition from vehicles from Hyundai.
The 456 GTA Base is equipped with a Ferrari 5.5 liter twelve -cylinder engine that utilizes 48 valves. The engine is mated to a Ferrari 4-speed Transaxle. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Coupe arena.
